L.A. County Library Bookmark Contest

The Mira Costa Library encourages all students to enter the County of Los Angeles Public Library’s 31st annual public library bookmark contest.  Celebrate books and reading by creating a unique bookmark based on this year’s theme: “Swing into Reading.”

Each year the Manhattan Beach Library, our local L.A. County Library branch, selects 12 to 16 bookmarks out of hundreds of entries from local students.  Four winners will be selected in each category (Kindergarten-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, and 9th-12th grade).  The winners will be honored at a Manhattan Beach city council meeting and will receive a certificate there.  Afterwards, they will be celebrated next door at the library with gift bags of treats, Barnes & Noble gift cards, and fifty copies of their bookmarks to share with friends and family.

You can print the Bookmark Contest Entry Form from this link or ask for a copy at our library or the Manhattan Beach Public Library.  Completed entries may be turned in at school by October 29th or to the public library by October 30th. The Mira Costa HS Library will also honor all the high school level winners by displaying their designs in the library and distributing copies of the bookmarks.

Start working on your design, and have fun! 🙂
